Job Description
The Global E-Waste Manager is responsible for leading and managing global e-waste management programs and initiatives within an organization. They will collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance, promote sustainability, and minimize the environmental impact of e-waste disposal. This role requires strong knowledge of e-waste regulations, recycling practices, project management, and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement global e-waste management strategies:
Research, analyze and interpret global e-waste regulations and standards.
Design and implement comprehensive e-waste management strategies that align with organizational goals and sustainability objectives.
Develop policies and procedures for e-waste management, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
Oversee e-waste compliance and risk management:
Stay up-to-date with global e-waste regulations and industry trends.
Ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements, reporting obligations, and certifications.
Assess and mitigate environmental, health, and data security risks associated with e-waste management.
Establish and manage global e-waste recycling programs:
Develop partnerships with certified e-waste recycling vendors and service providers across different regions.
Implement programs to promote responsible recycling practices for different types of electronic waste.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of recycling partners to ensure compliance and proper handling of e-waste.
Drive e-waste reduction and sustainability initiatives:
Develop and implement strategies to minimize e-waste generation at the source.
Promote education and awareness about responsible e-waste management among employees, suppliers, and customers.
Advocate for and implement product design and lifecycle considerations to enhance recyclability and reduce waste.
Monitor and report on e-waste metrics and performance:
Develop and maintain tracking systems to monitor e-waste generation, recycling rates, and key performance indicators.
Prepare regular reports on e-waste management activities, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in global e-waste management or related roles.
Strong knowledge of global e-waste regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
Familiarity with e-waste recycling technologies, disposal methods, and circular economy principles.
Project management skills, with the ability to lead and coordinate global e-waste initiatives.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies.
Data analysis and reporting capabilities to track and report on e-waste metrics.
Passion for sustainability and commitment to environmental responsibility.
