This position is located at our Fort Worth, Texas corporate office or Missoula, MTand has the potential to be a hybrid position with up to 50% remote work.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the accounting and forecasting of BNSF benefit plans and trust accounts; prepares benefit plan disclosures for 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of Form 11-K's, Benefit Plan financial statements and Form 5500's.
  • Acts as a liaison among internal departments, various service partners, and external auditors to properly account for and audit benefit plans.
  • Assists with quarterly communications and deliverables to parent company related to the plans.
  • Stays current on plan assumptions and the associated financial implications for reporting purposes.
  • Proactively identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 2years of experience with BNSF or the accounting department of another company
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP)
  • Able to research accounting and reporting issuesand propose conclusions on the proper accounting treatment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities
  • Strong project management skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Public accounting experience
  • Masters' degree in accounting or business administration
  • Minimum of 3years of experience with BNSF or the accounting department of another company
