Battery Specialist:

  • Provides technical and specialized guidance to the Plant production areas on materials and quality topics through testing and measurement activities.
  • Provides technical or specialized guidance to internal and external customers.
  • Leads testing for the Plant hybrid vehicle production.
  • Performs testing, data analysis, report writing, and problem solving.
  • Performs testing for BMW Shared Services Hybrid Vehicle warranty claims.
  • Supports Battery production and rework.
  • Utilizes standard equipment for performing battery and hybrid vehicle testing, including microscopes, x-ray, and electrical test equipment.
  • Develops materials test methods.
  • Provides expertise to develop technical solutions to complex issues within assigned areas.
  • Collaborates with process partners Plant-wide PMP (Problem-Management Process), 8D, and CST (Cross-System Teams).
  • Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering OR AA/AS degree in a technical field AND 2 years of related professional high voltage systems engineering experience OR the equivalent of 4 years of related professional high voltage systems engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with electrical devices and problem solving.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in technical report writing and editing.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with hybrid technology batteries.
  • 2+ years of professional experience operating and interpreting data using relevant test machines.
  • Blitz 4 (high voltage) training (preferred).
  • Hybrid battery related training (preferred).
  • 5+ years of professional MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, SharePoint, and Access).
  • 3+ years of knowledge of equipment and general testing methods for a variety of materials.
  • 3+ years of knowledge of electrical and/or battery testing.
  • German language skills (preferred).
