Anson Industries Inc. is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic IT Applications Development Intern to work with our staff. Duration is approximately May 20 - August 9, depending on the incumbent's school schedule. In this role, you will work out of our headquarters in Melrose Park, IL, just West of the City of Chicago. You will gain real-world experience and learn essential industry skills by assisting our team with applications development, user stories, and related technical analysis. You will also help ensure our programming standards and data quality goals are maintained. As an IT Application Development Intern, you will also troubleshoot technical and functional issues related to your projects, keeping team members and end users informed. This role is open to students currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a similar program. No experience is necessary, but you must be proficient with basic computer programming skills and willing to learn.

Role Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Work on real-world application development projects that directly impact the company.
  • Shadow and learn from members of the Anson IT department as they perform their duties.
  • Assist with technical tasks, troubleshooting, research and project reviews.
  • Work with company software, data and integrations as needed.
  • Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
  • Learn how to work as part of the Anson IT team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support our operations.
  • Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about information technology and business operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Active enrollment in an accredited post-secondary Computer-related degree program.
  • Satisfactory completion of introductory computer, programming and technology courses and a basic understanding of computer and technology principles.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Aptitude for math, logic, and proficiency with computers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High-level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • The ability to be discreet when handling sensitive financial information.
  • A willingness to learn.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Analytical skills
  • Motivation and strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.

Summary

We are looking for a driven IT Application Development Intern with a basic understanding of computer programming and technology principles/terms, who is ready for an immersive, real-world experience. Under the supervision of our staff, the Intern can expect to learn the basics of IT operations, participate in application development projects, and assist with other technical support activities. You should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.

To be a strong candidate for an IT Application Development Internship, you should possess an understanding of excel, a basic understanding of computer programming and information technology principles and have a positive attitude.
