Overview:

Advanced Technologies & Lab International, Inc. (ATL) is hiring a Solutions Architect for a position at the Department of Energy (DOE) Y-12 plant which is a DOE and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) site in support of the Information Solutions & Services (ISS) and Cybersecurity Program (CSP).

This job description reflects the critical role Solutions Architects play in ensuring the security and efficiency of our systems and is for a six (6) month period. Your responsibilities will include:

    Design and Implementation:
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into practical, secure, and scalable solutions.
    • Develop architectural designs that align with organizational goals and industry best practices.
    • Implement solutions that enhance system performance, reliability, and resilience.
    • Provide guidance and evaluation of technology solutions to provide input on technology direction to ensure CNS is utilizing best in class technologies and practices in support of its missions.
    • Identify and work with team of engineers and architects to identify areas for automation and application of DevOps principles.
    • Work with IT and various business partners on cloud-based technologies and how cloud could be utilized as part of solutions.
    • Ensures solutions are well engineered, operable, and maintainable.
  • Project Leadership:
    • Lead multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including developers, engineers, and security experts.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
    • Works with IT project management organization to deliver solutions on schedule.
    • Tracks and documents requirements for enterprise development projects.
    • Monitors current and future trends in technology which will positively affect organizational projects.
    • Ability to interact with senior leadership and customers to promote current technologies and solutions.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Supports and promotes an environment which relies on teamwork and collaboration.
    • Ability to take larger projects and break them down into manageable work unit.
  • System Analysis and Improvement:
    • Analyze existing systems, identifying dependencies and potential bottlenecks.
    • Propose process improvements and system enhancements to optimize performance.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define infrastructure requirements.
    • Evaluate Cyber Security implications of solutions and technologies.
Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Years of Experience

  • PhD in a Technical Field: Plus 2 to 5 years of related experience, or
  • Master's Degree in a Technical Field: Plus 5 to 10 years of related experience, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field: Plus 10 to 15 years of relevant expertise, or
  • Associate's Degree in a Technical Field: Plus 15 to 20 years of demonstrated knowledge, or
  • Recognized Expertise: Regardless of your degree, you must showcase in-depth skills in your technical specialty.

Clearance

  • Active DOE Q Clearance: You must possess an active DOE Q clearance or be eligible for one. This clearance ensures your ability to work on sensitive projects related to national security.

Required Experience

  • Technical Expertise: Industrial Technology: Familiarity with industrial control systems and their integration.
  • Operational Technology (OT): Understanding of OT systems, protocols, and security practices.
  • Rockwell Automation: Experience with Rockwell Automation products and solutions.
  • Allen Bradley Equipment: Proficiency in configuring and maintaining Allen Bradley equipment.
  • Operational Technology Solution Design: Ability to design robust OT solutions.
  • Industrial Technology Solution Design: Expertise in architecting industrial technology solutions.
  • Windows Server Operating Systems: Knowledge of Windows Server environments.
  • Networking Technologies: Strong understanding of network architecture, protocols, and security.
  • Candidate must have in-depth, demonstrated technical experience in the following areas:
  • Experience running proof-of-concepts
  • Familiarity with DevOps orchestration and automation concepts
  • Understanding of server technologies such as Windows and Unix/Linux
  • Understanding of Cloud technologies (AWS/Azure preferred)
  • Understanding of ITIL processes
  • Strong cyber security background
  • The candidate must also have the ability to present technical and operational information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word, solve complex technical problems, and be alert to changes that may affect the security and operational environment of systems.
