Oncology Tumor Product Specialist

Myriad Genetics discovers, develops, and commercializes molecular genetic tests that determine the risk of developing disease, assess disease progression, and guide treatment decisions in Oncology, Women's Health, and Mental Health. Myriad Oncology is looking for a sales professional who is passionate about improving the lives of patients with cancer or risk of cancer. As an Oncology Product Specialist, you will develop business, increase utilization, and set test protocols of our Cancer portfolio products within Oncology, Surgery, Gynecologic Oncology, Pathology, and Genetics. The Oncology Product Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert within the area sales team on Myriad somatic testing products and drive programmatic delivery of comprehensive somatic testing combined with Hereditary Cancer Testing. This Oncology Product Specialist will also drive adoption of programmatic testing across large healthcare systems, IDNS, and super-groups. The Oncology Product Specialist will play an active role in a consultative approach, project management and efficient implementation of processes within the accounts, while leading their assigned area on the initiative.

The Oncology Product Specialist also provides education on Myriad Oncology science, research, test results, and interpretation. Myriad Oncology tests can be used to guide personalized medical management decisions and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with their assigned Area Manager to assist in the overall development and implementation of the strategy and coaching of team members to effectively drive the success of the entire Oncology portfolio.
  • Demonstrates mastery clinical knowledge of the Oncology portfolio product line and mastery selling ability to drive revenue with accounts by gaining commitment from thought leaders, MD decision makes, pathology, genetics, and c-suite.
  • Provides quality process recommendations and fit efficiently into oncology pathways for treatment decisions. Including but not limited to the LEAN methodology to drive consistent, executive, or administrative leadership with top-down support and staff pull-through of bottom-up changes, for reliable and dependable processes that support physician behavior and impact patient outcomes. (LEAN certification completion within 12 months of start date)
  • Builds relationships between different disciplines across the academic and community network of health care providers to optimize an integrated multidisciplinary approach to set pathways for testing to define the optimal treatment decisions.
  • Develops strategic relationships with societies and Key Opinion Leaders who are influential in creating change in your defined geography. Examples of strategic relationships may also include billing, legal, process efficiency, quality, practice management, clinical administrators that guide decisions in large health systems or multi-site physician practices.
  • Collaborates with Account Executives, Regional Medical Specialist and Area Managers to target, plan and drive test utilization within large healthcare practices, hospitals, or health system facilities at the clinical, financial and operations level, to achieve improved patient outcomes.
  • Maintain relationships and current market share in key accounts in assigned geography (approx. 3 -5 accounts per geography).

Required Experience

  • BS. degree required; MBA preferred
  • Six Sigma or Lean Healthcare Certifications (or achievement within 12 months of start date)
  • Previous experience as a Product Specialist in the Oncology space, or Strategic Account Manager
  • 5+ years of sales experience in diagnostic testing, molecular testing, medical device, and/or capital equipment.

  • Track record of demonstrating integrity, even when inconvenient
  • Systems and Software - proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word and CRM, preferably Salesforce
  • Ability to travel daily in the assigned territory; 50 - 60% overnight travel.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record that meets safe and satisfactory criteria per Myriad's motor vehicle driving record policy.
