DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within the business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC).

These duties also include but are not limited to: scheduling patient appointments and associated patient system screens; accurate billing; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Demonstrated MA experience and proven customer service skills and sensitivity awareness.
  • At least 3 years recent experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary care setting (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine).
  • Highly efficient and able to work with multiple providers and tasks.
  • Knowledge in medical terminology, on-line scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.
  • Experience in direct patient care; demonstrated skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height, and weight; administering medication including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting specimens.
  • Recent proven experience in multi-tasking and ability to prioritize delivering direct patient care and managing administrative tasks throughout the day.
  • Thorough knowledge of the normal range of values for vital signs, emergency procedures, and of the basic lab and infection control procedures; standard items used to stock exam rooms.
  • Proven knowledge of the patient flow process in order to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians. Work in a proactive manner to anticipate needs of provider and patients.
  • General knowledge of pharmaceuticals and able to process PARs.
  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience assisting with procedures.
  • Experience with EPIC and Cadence module.
  • Experience working with senior population.
  • Experience with addressing care gaps.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or (English/Mandarin).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs and be able to work overtime as required.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $50,321 - $62,640 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $24.10 - $30.00

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
