Job Summary
SMSI is looking for a Capital Project Expeditor to support work for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This role will be responsible for expediting activities to ensure timely delivery of specialized equipment and associated commodities to meet contractual and project schedules. The position will be based in Oak Ridge, TN. This is a full-time position and can be a flex work schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Continuously participating with Engineering, Purchasing, Source Inspection, and other project colleagues to provide value added input throughout the supply chain process (pre-award and post-award).
  • Works with suppliers to status and obtain engineering/fabrication submittals in accordance with contractual schedules.
  • Evaluation of fabrication schedules and progress reports to determine if schedule submittals and performance against submitted schedules comply with contractual delivery requirements.
  • Collecting information to develop critical action reports as required for routine project reviews.
  • Coordinating and scheduling, as necessary, field expediting assignments, Engineering, or Construction visits.
  • Monitoring in process internal submittal reviews by Engineering to ensure timely review, approvals, and return to suppliers to maintain contractual schedules.
  • Maintenance of project files, related documents/reports, correspondence of all expediting activities.
  • Monitoring field expediting assignments, as required.
  • Development and submittal of expediting reports to Purchasing Lead.
  • Communicates and initiates resolution of supplier issues.
  • Expedites sub-suppliers as required and collaborates with Source Inspection staff to verify material and equipment meet contractual requirements with respect to specification and quality requirements.
  • Takes part in or leads meetings to analyze schedules and possible conflicts or concerns that impact deliveries.
  • Coordinates logistics and delivery monitoring of shipments.
  • Monitors receipt inspections after delivery to ensure inspection issues are resolved in a timely manner and assists in resolution any delivery issues including, but not limited to, working with suppliers to:
  • - acquire missing material.
  • - acquire missing quality documentation.
  • Prepares supplier evaluations as required by customer.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Experience with custom fabrication of NQA-1 gloveboxes.
  • Experience with Government procurement processes.
  • Competency in metrics development and reporting.
  • Familiarity with FAR requirements.
  • Experience with NQA-1 procurements preferred.
  • May require travel.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline either supply chain, business, engineering or equivalent experience with extensive knowledge and experience of the supply chain for specialty equipment and associated commodities for Government projects.
