JOB OVERVIEW

The Risk & Safety Intern will work closely with and support the Risk Management & Safety Vice President. The Risk Management & Safety Intern will help with safety and health projects, including Emergency Management, delivering and developing safety training material, incident management, emergency preparedness, and basics in commercial insurance. This position also offers excellent opportunities to work with other members of Melwood's risk and safety team. The Risk & Safety Intern will be paid $1,200.00 for 80 hours. The responsibilities of the Risk & Safety intern include:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Vice President & Corporate Safety Manager with the day-to-day management of safety activities.
  • Assist Vice President & Corporate Safety Manager with fire drills at three locations.
  • Assist Vice President & Corporate Safety Manager with any accident investigations.
  • Assist Vice President & Corporate Safety Manager with Safety Basics & Orientation Training
  • Assist Vice President & Claims Manager with reporting insurance claims
  • Participate in high-level discussions about Melwood's legal and advocacy strategy
  • Assist with other responsibilities related to Melwood's Risk department, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate must be a 2024 graduate of the CTE Program
  • Ability to work on a team and independently
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple task requirements simultaneously
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

Proficient computer software skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe and Outlook
