Job/Internship Description
Position Summary Wolverine Advanced Materials is utilizing Temporary Import Bonding (TIB) to combat significant tariff duties in today's global environment. TIB is an import strategy where the federal government allows companies to perform transformative actions on a product so long as all of the material is either scrapped or shipped back out of the country. The challenge arises in tracking this material through complicated manufacturing processes and if necessary, communicating with Customs to achieve satisfactory results. The Intern(s) would help solidify a process for tracking each pound of material from initial order submission to eventual shipment out of the country. This includes inside the facility where multiple manufacturing processes and employees all create a challenging environment. Essential Responsibilities Spring Intern 2022Position is located in Blacksburg, VA * Organize and maintain TIB entry records for internal/external customs audit procedures, ensuring WAM is reaming compliant with US customs border protection rules and regulations. * Responsible for tracking and tracing TIB declared articles/raw throughout the importing/customs entry, production processing, and exportation routine. * Record TIB entry quantities and its depletion statuses to present reporting to upper-level management. * Construct and present weekly TIB forecasted savings amount to upper-level management team. * Communicate and collaborate with internal plant purchasing/production control teams to indicate and determine TIB quantities and supplier allocations * Cooperate with WAM customs broker to process TIB entries and closeout procedures accurately and timely. * Participate in daily purchasing/production control planning meetings to facilitate TIB efforts and align TIB quantity allocations. Interns are assigned a mentor and a project where they will gain valuable experience and contribute to the team while managing day-to-day duties. All interns will give a presentation the management at the end of their term. In addition to their project, interns/co-ops will gain: * A fundamental understanding of the operation of their discipline. * A basic understanding of safe processes and related behaviors. * Experience networking and building relationships inside and outside of the facility. * Exposure to other disciplines related to the project. * Additional responsibilities to be assigned as needed by management. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess the ability to work in a manufacturing facility. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
